Planning Installation

Note: These steps ensures a smooth and safe installation process. If any conditions are not met, do not proceed and notify the general contractor before starting.

Installation Qualification

  • Designed for installation ONLY by Mecho-trained professional installers.
  • If site conditions do not meet requirements, notify the general contractor before starting.

Shade & Bracket Fit

  • Verify that the shade size matches the designated window opening height and width.
  • Confirm that shipped brackets and shade assembly fit into the installation space.
  • Check for obstructions (e.g., hardware, trim, vents) that could interfere with brackets, chain placement, or shade travel. If found, cease work and notify the general contractor.

Fascia & Mounting Dimensions

  • Inside Mount (ID): Fascia should be 1/8” less than the opening width. (ex: A 60” ID order should have a 59-7/8" fascia.)
  • Outside Mount (OD): Fascia should match the shade width exactly. (ex: A 60” OD order should have a 60" fascia.)
  • Edge Clearance: No additional deductions or clearance adjustments are required for ID/OD installations.

Mounting Surface & Structural Integrity

Caution: Before installing brackets, confirm that the mounting surface is level. If the surface is not level, shim the shade brackets to ensure smooth operation.

  • Ensure the mounting substrate (wood, metal, concrete, etc.) can support the full weight of the shade plus pulling force and other external influences.
  • If installed under an interior contract, wood blocking is recommended and should be plumb, level, and fitted per architectural specifications.
  • The horizontal surface of the shade pocket should not exceed 5/8" deviation over 20'.

Proper Mounting Screws

Caution: Secure all screws to prevent bracket failure and shade assembly detachment. Mount brackets to a stable substrate using appropriate fasteners, considering the shade’s size and weight.

  • Mecho does not provide screws.
  • When determining the proper screw type and length for installation, consider the mounting substrate material makeup.
  • The appropriate type of screw must be selected to ensure a safe and successful installation.
  • Refer to the Installation section of the Shade Installation and Operating Manual for minimum screw size requirements.
  • The appropriate type of screw must be selected to ensure a safe and successful installation.
  • All fasteners are identified based on site conditions by the professional installer.

Verify Before Proceeding

  • The installer is Mecho-trained.
  • Shade and brackets fit properly.
  • Fascia and mounting dimensions are correct.
  • The mounting surface is structurally sound.
  • Proper mounting screws are selected.
  • If any issues are found, STOP and notify the general contractor.
